Human Rights Education Workshop – Puntland Human Rights Association

About Human Rights Education Workshop

On 7 April 2018, Puntland Human Rights Association conducted a one day human rights education workshop in Qardho of Puntland Federal State of Somalia. 15 youth from youth-led organizations, university students, women NGOs and freelance journalists have participated in the one-day human rights education workshop. The participants consisted of 14 males and 1 female. It was a very interesting workshop as some of the participants mentioned. The purpose of the workshop was to educate and teach Somali youth human rights principles, specifically the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Cairo Declaration of Human Rights. Also, the workshop was aimed to inspire youth to become advocates for social change, tolerance and peace.

Puntland Human Rights Association would like to conduct similar workshops in Bosaso, Garowe, Galkacayo, Badhan and Buhoodle to boost the knowledge and education of Puntland youth on human rights, democracy and peace principles. The facilitators used different tools to reach all youth and girls from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate different tools including but not limited to role play, dancing, conference and workshops. The project is solely implemented by Puntland Human Rights Association, it’s locally funded by the members of the organization.
